Kindiak Consulting was founded by Darlene Kindiak to provide a variety of consulting services (strategic analysis, report writing and follow-up support) for healthcare and social service organizations. Darlene is especially proficient at understanding and working with elderly, vulnerable, mental health and forensic populations.

Meet Darlene Kindiak

Darlene Kindiak photoDarlene Kindiak is a Licensed Social Worker and Paralegal with 20+ years of Certification as a Healthcare Executive.

She carries several years of clinical mental health/ supervisory experience in both hospital and community-based settings, academic experience serving as an instructor and supervisor across a variety of disciplines as well as research experience including hospital/ academic partnerships at McMaster and Waterloo Universities. Darlene’s ability to address mental health/ legal issues extends across both the hospital and justice sectors. She served as Clinical Legal Coordinator, Forensic Service at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton in the context of Ontario Review Board matters. In addition, Darlene served as Paralegal counsel assisting clients identified as vulnerable/ “special needs” who were involved with either criminal court and/ or provincial court matters (Legal Aid Ontario, Paralegal pilot project, Hamilton).

Darlene is currently serving as a Public Panel Member for tribunal Hearings (Order in Council) with the Ontario Review Board (ORB).

Examples of Consulting / Accreditation Projects

Consultant to the Human Services Justice Coordinating Committee - LHIN4 Region (Brant, Haldimand-Norfolk, Hamilton and Niagara)

Reviewed and analyzed the activities and alignment of the Regional and four Local HSJCC's with the priorities of the Provincial HSJCC over a four-year period, using a variety of evaluation tools i.e., Logic Model coding summaries. Provided suggestions for future consideration to each respective committee to ensure ongoing alignment with the Provincial HSJCC directions.

Co-consultant to the Hamilton Emergency Services Network and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, Mental Health Addictions Program re: Patient Flow Project

Reviewed and analyzed psychiatric patient flow at SJHH across four clinical areas (psychiatric emergency service, acute mental health, tertiary and ambulatory services) using both qualitative and quantitative statistical data. Identified strategies/ suggestions to address barriers for future implementation and began the implementation process.

Management Lead of two Ministry of Health start-up programs (psychogeriatric and ACTT) through the 3-year probationary accreditation process to attain “full-funding status” (Stratford General Hospital and Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, Burlington)

Co-consultant/ Health Planner to the Metropolitan Toronto District Health Counsel

Co-facilitated the operating plan review process. Assigned to lead discussion groups, gather input, compile data and assist in the writing of the Final Report to the Ministry of Health.
